Film Transfer
Transferring your film to DVD is the best way to preserve the footage. Plus, DVD’s can hold up to 2 hours of footage! That’s means an entire box of film reels could fit onto 1 DVD!
Most of our customers have either Regular 8mm or Super 8mm film. It is possible, however, to have 16mm film, though this format was not as popular with consumers. The chart below shows the different formats:

You can estimate the amount of footage/minutes by the size of the reel.

Please organize the film as much as possible. Numbering the reels with sticky notes is the easiest way to make sure the film is transferred in the right order. This drastically cuts down on the time it takes to digitize the film. The footage can be reorganized once it’s digitized, but organizing the reels will streamline the entire process.
Background music
We typically don’t recommend adding music to old film. Part of the experience of watching the footage is the silence. We find that most of our customers would rather have it silent so they can talk and share memories with family and friends without the distraction of music.
Damaged Film
Depending on how severe the damage is, most film can at least be digitized. It will however, have spots and discoloring. The spots and coloring may only be in a few seconds on each reel, so we still recommend having the film digitized.
